In case you did not know, Hillsborough County’s race for Supervisor of Elections (SOE) is between Democrat Phyllis Busansky and incumbent Republican Buddy Johnson.
Current Hillsborough County Supervisor of Elections Buddy Johnson is an incompetent boob, who can’t keep his own finances straight, much less run an election.
Johnson has also been accused of using taxpayer money to campaign. He’s been criticized for sticking his name on three county election vans, ostensibly to remind voters of the new paper ballots. Others also complained about him putting his name next to the word “vote” (as in “Vote Buddy Johnson) on official letterhead. Johnson’s office said they simply want to encourage people to vote. I wonder if 10% turnout is considered a success over at SOE HQ.
A Supervisor of Elections is like an offensive lineman on a football team. You shouldn’t hear anything about the guy unless he screws up. Unfortunately for Buddy, this year we’ve seen his name in the paper more often than Britney.
We have nothing against bumbling idiots, except they should not be running our elections. I plan to vote for Phyllis Busansky.
The Tampa Tribune recommends Democrat Phyllis Busansky, and the St. Pete Times recommends Democrat Phyllis Busansky.

Phyllis Busansky was a good county commissioner, back in the days when we had a county commission with a measure of vision and civic responsibility. (Imagine that!) She’s an experienced public servant with integrity. (Imagine that!)
Tommy has accurately pegged Buddy Johnson. The guy is also claiming a stinky agricultural tax exemption on land he plans to develop, renting a few cows to pretend he’s a farmer. Yes, it’s legal — as is all his election shenanigans — but it all shows a willingness to use his position for personal gain, and take advantage of loopholes which are not available to everyone rather than stand for the spirit of the rules. We should expect more from our elected leaders.
I’m voting for Busansky.
